Art & Culture
Precisely who will be crowned Germany’s cultural capital is still very much up in the air; tastes and criteria are simply too divergent. But regardless of how the question will ultimately be judged, Munich will always take its rightful place on the podium.
The theatrical programs at the major venues –Bavarian State Opera, Deutsches Theater, Volkstheater, Prinzregenten Theater and the Kammerspiele, to name only a few of the most famous – are rich in variety, ranging from classical to modern, making it very hard to decide where to begin.
Concerts, cabarets, events for young and old, here in Munich there is always something going on. A big part of German film and TV production originates in Munich; a visit to the studios on the Geiselgasteig will undoubtedly awaken all kinds of fond viewing memories.
And which museum should you visit? The Deutsches Museum? The Pinakothek art galleries? One of the many smaller galleries exhibiting the up-and-coming artists of tomorrow?
Whatever you are in the mood for, you can find a good overview in the lobby of Hotel Rothof. Though ultimately, you will have to make the hard decisions for yourself!
